Europcar is Horrible
Please don't rent from them - we had a horrid experience with rudeness, hidden charges and pestering phone calls. They were cheaper than avis who we normally use BUT NOT WORTH IT. Eurocar were dreadful - pay the extra.

I agree with the sentiment but for somewhat different reasons. I have had a similar experience as that described at http://www.breakthechain.org/exclusives/europcar.html
I rented a car in April, and queried the lack of refund of GBP250 after two weeks following return of the car. At that time I was told that the car had not been checked back in ( A Similar experience to that mentioned above)but also was told that it had been re-hired on the same day. Since then I have telephoned UK from Indonesia on four occasions to customer services who were all very pleasant and made promises to resolve the problem. Despite the promises to email or telephone no replies were received. Using the email provided on their website prompted an automatic reply promising a further contact in due couse. Nothing happened until to my surprise the deposit was transferred to my account. However the situation became worse as at the same time they recharges the full cost of the rental plus deposit (GBP727.64)If this is some surcgharge they should at least be able to explain the reasons,
As a result, now I am over GBP 500 down! I telephoned again and was promisesd an explanation for the 'new charge' Two weeks later I have had no reply.
I have now given up trying to resolve this by customer services who just sweet talk you anld leave you with empty promises.
I myself will never use Europcar again and if I get no satisfactory explanation I will take every opportunmity to advertise the problems encountered by me and others the with car hire at Europcar.
